Convert GLB to OBJ

Export the geometry of a GLB scene as a Wavefront OBJ. This is useful for pipelines that accept OBJ but not glTF; materials and textures are not transferred.

What changes in the conversion

Kept

  • Triangle and quad geometry
  • Shape and proportions
  • Object groups become OBJ objects

Dropped

  • PBR materials and textures
  • Animations and scene graph
  • No MTL file is generated

Common mistakes

  • A GLB with only lights or cameras produces an empty OBJ and is rejected.
  • Materials will be missing in the target software unless you rebuild them.
  • Very large scenes can exceed the 100 MB limit.

For 3D printing

  • OBJ is rarely the best printing format; use STL or 3MF when possible.
  • If you import the OBJ into CAD, check the unit scale first.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the MTL file?+

There is none. This converter writes geometry only, which keeps the result small and dependency-free.

Will the textures survive?+

No. OBJ needs a separate MTL and image files; this tool does not export them.

Can I convert a GLTF file?+

This page handles GLB. For a .gltf file with external buffers, pack it as GLB first.

Need a model instead of a conversion?

Turn a photo, a drawing or a logo into a 3D model, then export it in the format you need.
