What changes in the conversion

Kept

  • Triangle geometry and part groups
  • Per-solid colours
  • A single binary file for the web

Dropped

  • Exact CAD surfaces
  • Parametric history and PMI
  • Assembly constraints

Common mistakes

  • A STEP without solids cannot be tessellated.
  • Very large assemblies may time out in the browser; convert one part.
  • Invalid files are rejected.

For 3D printing

  • GLB is for viewing, not printing; keep an STL or 3MF for the slicer.
  • No Draco or Meshopt compression is applied; dense meshes stay large.

Frequently asked questions

Is GLB good for CAD viewers?+

It is a mesh, not CAD: fine for a visual web viewer, but measurements and exact surfaces are lost.

Does it include colours?+

Each solid gets a colour from the tessellator; textures are not created.

Can I use it in three.js?+

Yes, GLTFLoader opens it directly; no external files are needed.

Need a model instead of a conversion?

Turn a photo, a drawing or a logo into a 3D model, then export it in the format you need.
