GLB vs glTF
They are the same standard in two containers. glTF is the editable JSON scene with external buffers and textures; GLB is that scene packed into a single binary file for delivery.
| Criterion | GLB | GLTF |
|---|---|---|
| Packaging | One binary file | JSON plus .bin and texture files |
| Assets | Embedded | Separate, referenced by URI |
| Requests | One request | One per companion file |
| Editing | Harder: binary buffers | Easy: the JSON is readable |
| Delivery | Web, AR, app stores | CDN pipelines and debugging |
| Failure mode | A corrupt file breaks everything | A missing companion breaks the model |
In short. Author in glTF, ship in GLB. Packing a glTF into GLB removes the missing-file class of bugs and cuts requests; keep the glTF sources for editing.
Convert between them
No direct converter between these two: pack the glTF into a GLB with a tool such as gltf-transform, then convert the GLB here.

Questions
Can I convert glTF to GLB?+
Yes: pack the .gltf, its .bin and textures with a tool such as gltf-transform. This site accepts GLB directly.
Is GLB smaller?+
Usually the total transfer is smaller: one file replaces several and compression applies to the whole package.
Which one do browsers load?+
Both, but a GLB avoids CORS and missing-file issues.
